Tarbela Dam

It is 143.26 meters or 470 feet high and 2,743.2 meters or 9,000 feet in length. The total capacity of the dam is 13.69 km3, spread over a construction area of 168,000 km2.

Mangla Dam

Second, the Mangla Dam is on the list. It is also the ninth-largest dam in the world. The dam was built in 1967 in Mirpur District, Azad Kashmir. The Mangla Dam is built on the Jhelum River, with a length of 3,140 meters or 10,302 feet. And a height of 147 meters or 482 feet. Warsak Dam

The Warsak Dam is the third on Pakistan’s famous dam list. The dam located on the Kabul River northwest of Peshawar, capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The Warsak Dam has completed two major phases. The first phase was completed in 1960 and the second phase from 1980 to 1981.

In addition, the total height is 76.2 m or 250 ft and a length of 140.2 m or 460 ft. The total cost of construction amounted to 156 million rupees. Above all, the Warsak Dam hydroelectric project has a generating capacity of 243 MW of electricity.

Khanpur Dam

Diamer Bhasha Dam

In Pakistan, in Gilgit-Baltistan, on the banks of the Indus, a Diamer-Bhasha dam was built. It’s the gravity dam filled with concrete. On October 18, 2011, Yousaf Raza Gillani, Prime Minister of Pakistan, laid the foundation stone.

However, when completed, this Diamer-Bhasha dam will become the world’s tallest dam of roller-compacted reinforced concrete. The name is based on the location of Bhasha in Diamer District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.

There will be fourteen gates for the dam with a height of 272 meters. The Diamer-Bhasha Dam will have a living reserve of 7.9 km3 (6,400,000 acre-feet).

However, 8,100,000 acres (10 km3) will make up the gross capacity of the reservoir. The dam will have two underground power plants. Each plant will have six turbines with a maximum capacity of 4,500 MW.

Gulpur Hydroelectric Power Plant

Located on the Poonch River, a run-of-river hydroelectric project, the Gulpur Hydroelectric Power Plant (GHPP) is under construction. In the Kotli district of Azad Kashmir in Pakistan, the Poonch River, near Gulpur, is an important secondary river in the Jhelum River.

The dam site is about 285 kilometers from the capital of Punjab, Lahore and 167 km from the country’s capital, Islamabad. This place is easily accessible by a paved and mountainous road passable in all weathers.

Kalabagh Dam
